Can Money Buy Happiness?

Can money buy happiness? Studies on money and happiness may provide some answers.

Is $50,000 enough to buy happiness? A recent survey found that an annual income of $50K is enough to create a feeling of happiness. The results are based on a phone survey conducted by the Marist Institute of Public Opinion. Over 1,235 adults in the U.S. participated in the survey.

Participants who earned at least $50K were more satisfied with various aspects of life such as personal relationships, health, living arrangements, neighborhood, employment status, and the path the individual has taken in general.

Jon Barron analyzes the results of the Marist survey as well as past studies on money and happiness and life satisfaction.
